This year Dolphin Dance was launched already on the 2nd of April, which is over a month earlier than normally. However, this spring has been almost record cold here as we have had snowfall almost every other day until the second week of May. There have been some sunnier days in between, but due to the work schedules, we were able to cast-off for the first sail of the season on the 4th of May.

The Thursday evening was clear and beautiful, but we got a bit late start and the temperature dropped quite rapidly when the sun started setting. We arrived to our cruising club’s island base at ten o’clock in the evening. First thing to do (of course) was to set fire to the sauna. Some considerate fellow member had already prepared everything so we basically just needed to light the match. That is thoughtful especially at this time of the year, when the weather is cold and people might arrive at late hours. By the way, there is probably nothing better than having a sauna after a cold day at sea (I wonder why Swedes don’t get this…)

We stayed in near waters during the weekend, so this was pretty relaxed shakedown cruise for the season 2017.

The first weekend of May was mostly sunny. After that weather took turn to colder again.
