Our summer cruise begun on the 21st of May as I had just started my four weeks paternity leave and Minna had some summer holiday weeks left from last year. Partly due to the Covid, we decided to stay in the Finnish waters also this year and take a course towards east and Gulf of Finland this time. Gulf of Finland is an area that we visited with a sailing boat only once before (in 2015), and then Helsinki was the easternmost point before heading to Tallinn.

The first part of the summer cruise took us to Helsinki. Here are some photos from this first part.

First stop Dalskär natural harbour at Archipelago National Park. The first day of the summer cruise was grey and it was drizzling, but good nortwesterly wind brought us 20 nm south.
Sunday (23rd of May) started out as grey and with poor visibility. The fog lasted until the late afternoon and after clearing away, the evening was most beautiful.
Fog quickly faded away.
Sunday night’s harbour at Hitis Archipelago.
We spent three nights at Hanko due to the bad weather and strong winds. On Wednesday the wind increased to storm strength with highest gusts up to 52 kts.
After Hanko, we continued to Ekenäs Archipelago.

Trelänningen anchorage at Ekenäs Archipelago was definitely one of the highlights on our journey to Helsinki. This scenic natural harbour is located next to the open Gulf of Finland.

Last week of May gave us everything from nice sunshine to thick fog and from heavy storm to light winds.
Approaching Helsinki on the 2nd of June. Weather improved and got warmer in the beginning of June.
