Commercial collaboration, discount on the mattresses.

For the season 2021, we wanted to improve the sleeping conditions. This is partly due to our youngest crew member, who of course can sometimes affect his parents’ sleep, but also because carrying him around makes especially his mother’s back sore. We have had an adjustable Tempur bed at home now a bit longer than 1,5 years – we bought it before the pregnancy so that Minna’s back would manage the pregnancy as well as possible. We have been very happy with it, so it was obvious that we would like to have Tempur mattresses also onboard S/Y Dolphin Dance. Now it was time to make this upgrade.

Our holiday cruise began already in May since Minna has some summer holiday weeks left from last year and Antti is on paternity leave. Thus, we have now slept two weeks with these mattresses. We received a little discount on Tempur mattresses when promising to share our experiences here in the blog and on our social media channels. Here we go!

The local Tempur Brand Store in Turku helped us to measure our mattresses and to find a sewer to customize the mattresses to the correct size. The whole buying experience was easy for us – we visited the store to discuss the mattress customization, brought one of those two fore peak mattresses for measurement, and then picked up the ready mattresses just before we started our holiday sailing trip.

In the photos underneath, you can see how these mattresses look like. On the third one, you can also see the net that Antti bought from a local fabric store to improve the ventilation under the forepeak. This is an easy and cheap trick to reduce the need for lifting the mattresses for added ventilation.

So, how do we feel about the mattresses now? We both have been happy with them. Backs say thank you! Well, Minna has to admit, that the mattresses are not the only trick to keep her back on track – regular body care (such as fascia method training or yoga) is needed and also regular visits to her massager. But without these new mattresses and with that little boy, we would have a lot bigger problems especially with her back. Thus, we are happy to recommend these also to other sailors.
