We spent the beginning of this week practicing social distancing and working from the boat. It is a very early season so the Archipelago is quiet and public harbours are still closed. The weather was most beautiful for mid-April and it is nice to watch, how the nature is waking up in the islands. Also the increasing amount of daylight keeps the spirits up during these times.
We had a minor but annoying drawback on Sunday, when sailing to windward in 10 m/s (20 kts) wind, as suddenly, the fore sail came crashing down. The jib halyard (wire) had snapped from the terminal, but fortunately the jib stayed intact. The halyard had also escaped from the top of the mast so it couldn’t be fixed underway and thus, we could only use the main sail for the remaining of the trip.
We are not sailing this weekend as the weather forecast is not that good and obviously, there is some maintenance work to do.
